BEESTON ROAD CLUB
BRC
AGM 2004
There were 20 members in attendance.
Business commenced at 8.40 p.m.
Apologies for absence were received from Tracy Clegg.
Mick Hart welcomed everyone to the meeting and continued by thanking all those who had contributed to the running of the Club in 2003. He made reference to the event promoters, their helpers and sponsors, particularly Mike Davis for his support of the Evening Time Trial League. He concluded by confirming that he had booked the Risley Park for the 2004 Dinner to be held on 20th November.
The Minutes of the 2003 Annual General Meeting and the 2003 Annual Report were then approved .
The Treasurer (John Perry) distributed copies of the accounts for the period ended 19th January 2004 and these showed an excess expenditure over income of £923.66 for the year. However this was mainly accounted for by having written off £430 in the value of the track bikes and the club's contribution of £560 towards the club clothing.. There had been reductions in Income as a result of the fall in membership and also from the event programme as we had not promoted a road race during 2003. The finances were still in a healthy position and cash at the bank totalled £3090.19. The accounts and balance sheet were then approved.
The Racing Secretary (Mark Plowright) commented on the outstanding performances of Helen Gutteridge in winning the Ladies National Criterium Championship and also the valuable support given to her by Heather Summers in the Ladies Team Series events together with her excellent ride on the Isle of Man. The men had been overshadowed by the ladies but he noted that John White had ridden over 40 time trials and Craig Taylor had put in a good performance in the National Cyclo Cross Championship.
The Press Secretary (Carol Walters) had very little to report as information had not been forthcoming from the riders.

** Sarah had written to the Chairman regretting the loss of En Ligne in 2003 as she considered this to be a valuable asset to Club Life. She was keen to see some form of publicity re-introduced by the Club and volunteered to help the Press Secretary in establishing this media. Her offer was accepted with thanks and it is hoped that better communications can be established within the Club during 2004. .
Committee Members - It was agreed that any club member who attended the Clubroom on committee meeting nights would be entitled to speak and vote at the meeting without having been elected to the committee at the A G M. A programme of events including committee dates would be circulated to members when available.
Any other Business
Clubroom - The poor attendance at the clubroom was a cause of concern but it was felt that we should continue with the weekly meetings until the Evening Time Trial League started when the situation could be reviewed. It was generally accepted that we should try to put on more activities on Monday evenings and this could be considered by the committee. A roller racing evening has been arranged for 16th February commencing at 6.30 p.m. and it was hoped to have 4 teams of 4 riders taking part in the competition.
Presidents Run - Following the success of the run in 2003 it was agreed that a similar event be held this year on 7th March commencing from Wilford Bridge at 9.30 a.m. Destination - Mountsorrel
Early Season Shield.
The dates for the Early Season Shield events were decided as follows :-
14th March - 2 lap Time Trial
21st March - 3 lap Time Trial
28th March - 4 lap Time Trial
All events to start at 10 a.m. from the Lay-by near the Star Inn.
Evening Time Trial League
There was some debate whether we should join in with the Long Eaton C C for the evening events but after some consideration it was agreed that we continue with our Tuesday Events commencing on 13th April and then every Tuesday until 17th August. All events to start at 7 p.m.
Club Clothing - Michelle Summers offered to help Mark in compiling a further order for a supply of club clothing and it was hoped to have this organised in the near future.
Club Web Site - Phil Gray-Blest had offered to take this on board and it was hoped to have the site up and running shortly. Regular contributions would then be required to maintain the site as a source of information for club members. .
The first meeting of the new committee will be held at the Clubroom on 2nd February 2004 at 8.30 p.m.
There being no other business the meeting closed at 10.40 p.m.
