Roller Racing , Beeston Club Room February 16th 2004. Round One

Beeston RC hosted the first Roller Racing extravaganza of 2004, comprising of 4 teams; Long Eaton CC, Derby Mercury, Dataphonics and our very own Beeston RC. Each team was made up of 3 men and 1 woman but Beeston RC took a slightly different approach by having 2 men - Craig Taylor & Steve Plowright and 2 women - Heather Summers & Helen Gutteridge. This proved to be a clever move!

The racing consisted of a number of sprints, endurance and relay events with each rider doing approximately 3 or 4 races each. We had quite a few spectators too voicing their support and adding to the overall success of the night, it is a great event to watch and the racers appreciate all the encouragement they can get! The racing was extremely exciting and the competition intense, Long Eaton CC and Beeston RC were vying for top position right up until the last race.

By the end of the night there was a few red faces and increased heart rates but everyone had enjoyed the sprit of the night. The final results were:

A big thank you goes to Helen Gutteridge for her guest re-appearance for Beeston RC and being our 'top' performer on the night, to Craig Taylor for organising our team and most of all to Dave Spencer from Long Eaton CC for organising the evening as a whole and ensuring it all ran so smoothly.
