Entries are now open for one of the season’s favourite ‘warm up’ sportives. Before taking on the rigours of others why not test yourself on this 75 mile roller coaster?
The event uses the same roads and climbs which Britain’s first Tour De France stage winner trained on . Brian Robinson has also attended the event each year to the delight of many cycling fans.
Based around Huddersfield access by road and rail is easy and this event has traditionally featured a closed road mass start thanks to the support of the local Police, highways and Metro.
Reasonably priced and with excellent facilities it has drawn praise from riders and cycling administrators alike.
This event is not for profit and entries have supported many worthy causes over the years, including Yorkshire Air Ambulance, which sadly has helped many cyclists in distress
Hello and a happy New Year to you and all your club riders. You may have already seen our website: www.wildwaleschallenge2012 ; if not, have a look for all the details of this year's event, which takes place on SUN 26 AUGUST. We have a cracking route for you which takes riders over to Vyrnwy and then across the hauntingly beautiful Nant y Eira before turning West to Machynlleth for a lunch stop. Then it's the stillness of the Dovey Forest before Dinas Mawddwy, and we all know what comes after that, don't we? It's a little longer than last year, at about 85 miles, but plenty of time to do it in!
We're expecting a higher entry this year, and numbers will be limited to 500 riders, so please put the word around, and get those entries in. It's on-line entry this year as well, which hopefully will make it easier for most people, but for those not on line, the entry form can be downloaded and completed by hand and returned with a cheque, in the usual way.
Please direct any queries about the event to me, e-mail or phone on 07884 253784
Best wishes
Denis Holder (organiser)

The event includes unlimited tea and coffee before, during and after the ride for all riders and any accompanying support team. We also provide a nourishing meal at the feed station half way round the course - the best in the UK! Our careful planning and organisation means that every rider is free to concentrate on enjoying the ride and achieving their best time.
The ride routes all start and finish at the Village Hall in centre of the Clapham and the staggered start begins at 8:00am, continuing through until 9:45am. Entry and timing services are supplied by SPORTident: when riders cross the start line, they will trigger the timer, which is triggered again at the finish line.
Times will be published on the day, sorted by names and not times. There are no prizes awarded: like last year, we celebrate afterwards with live music at The New Inn in Clapham Village from about 6pm
More information and all the details riders need to take part can be found on our brand new website at www.roughridersportif.com
